G.N Gauhar’s ( B. 1934) novel pun - te - paap received the Sahitya Akademi in 1988. It is less conventional than Gauhar’s earlier novels , and also more broad -based , and it is remarkable for its selectively comprehensive coverage of Kashmir topographical , social and cultural , within the fictional parameters of two chums . The fictional frame of pun -te paap has afforead its auther a wide scope for an interplay of scenic , soico- cultural and temperamental diversity . The novel wonderfully presents a meaningful criss- cross of nature and society throwing up transitional shades of the post independence cultural milieu of Kashmir.
