Dr. Har Prashad is presently advisor for Tribology of Rtec, USA. He is retired Senior Deputy General Manager (Tribology) from the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Corporate Research and Development Division, Hyderabad (India) in 2004. He was consultant of Centre for Tribology Inc (CETR), USA till August 2011. He obtained an M.E. (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1970, and subsequently, Ph.D. in Tribology. He worked with the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehra Dun, and with the Design Bureau at Bokaro Steel Ltd., Dahnbad, Bihar, before joining BHEL in 1974.
Dr. Prashad has published more than 125 papers in both national and international journals, reviewed more than 200 technical papers and many Ph.D. thesis. He is the author of seven technical books. The book on "Tribology in Electrical Environments" is published from United Kingdom by Elsevier Publishers in December 2005. The second book on 'Solving Tribology Problems of Rotating Machines "is published by Wood head Publishers, U.K, in February 2006. The third book on "Integral Approaches to Tribotesting in Mechanical Engineering" is published by CRC, USA in August 2009. Four books are published by Lap publishing, Germany in 2011: Behaviour of Rolling-element Bearings under Shaft Voltages; Electrical Analogy of Different types of Journal & Thrust Bearings; A System Approach to Mechanical Engineering Problems; and "Anti-friction Bearings and Lubricants under Electrical Currents".
