Prashnanushthana Paddhati or simply Anushthana Paddhati in short, is hugely popular work on horary astrology in Kerala since hundreds of years. The first part of the work mainly deals with the topics of longevity and diseases while the second part tackles other topics of day-to-day relevance of human existence. The other popular Jyotisha work from Kerala, Prashna Marga, draws heavily from Prashnanushthana Paddhati and follows its basic structure.
Though many concepts of Prashnanushthana Paddhati are now available in Prashna Marga, it should be noted that several other Shlokas that are quite useful for effective prediction have been left out in Prashna Marga. In fact, Prashnanushthana Paddhati, which is neither too brief nor too elaborate, is complete in itself. Its adherents swear on its amazing efficacy which is evident by its popularity in the astrologer community of Kerala. This inspired the first ever English translation of the work by the translator in 2019.
This enlarged edition provides with extensive notes, alternate interpretations and opinions on various Shlokas, summarization of the information in tables for easy reference, clear demonstrations with examples and horoscopes, and with pictorial illustrations wherever possible.

Prashnanushthana Paddhati was the first of my efforts of translating Jyotisha classics from Malayalam script/language to English. The first edition was published about four years back in May, 2019 and was received well by the readers. Subsequently, I happened to work on the English translations of Dasadhyayi and Horaphalaratnavali, in course of which my ability to read and understand Malayalam has improved considerably. While having a look at the earlier edition of Prashnanushthana Paddhati published in 2019, I felt a need for a revised edition of the book with claborate notes. Further, my experience with the paperback publisher of the first edition in India also compelled me to think in that direction. The second edition, now in the hands of the readers, is the result of such efforts.
This enlarged edition includes extensive notes, alternate interpretations and opinions on various Shlokas, summarization of the information as tables for easy reference, clear demonstrations with examples and horoscopes and with pictorial illustrations wherever possible. Relevant information from other classics like Shatpanchashika, Aryasaptati, Prashna Marga, Prashnayana, Krishneeyam, Vidyamadhaveeyam, Dasadhyayi, Horaphalaratnavali, Brihajjataka, Brihat Samhita, Shiva Swarodaya, Yoga Yatra and so on has been incorporated at appropriate places for adding clarity. I have put forth my best efforts to add value to the book and I am quite hopeful that the readers would receive this edition also with the same warmth as they did for the earlier edition. I would be glad to receive any feedback from my esteemed readers of the book and also any suggestions/corrections from scholars which would be thankfully included in future editions.
