With his roots in the spiritual town of Kankhal, Haridwar, Yoga Guru Dr. Surakshit Goswami has been spreading the nectar of yoga and spiritualism across India for quite some time now. He aims to make every person healthy had happy by shielding them from various ailments, be they physical or mental. Engaged in yoga-sadhana for the last three decades, Surakshit Goswami has earned several degrees in the field. These include a Diploma in Yoga-vidya, Vidyalankar (B.A.), M.A (gold medalist) and a Ph. D degree in yoga, all from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwars famous center of Vedic Studies and Spiritualism. He also taught for a few years there. Having moved on from teaching to being associated with the Times Group as its Yoga Adviser, Surakshit Goswami has, over the last few years, published over seven hundred articles on yoga and spirituality in Navbharat Times, The Times of India, Maharashtra Times and Sandhya Times. Many of his special programmers on yoga have been telecast on various TV channels in India and abroad. In addition, many have benefited from dozens of yogasadhna and health camps organized by him all over the country. He looks forward to evolve better yogic ways for making life healthy and happy.
God has bestowed on humanity innumerable virtues. But many a person lets himself or herself remain sadly confined to ‘I am”. The Ego is thus a restriction, a self-demarcated boundary blocking a person’s spiritual progress. Our venerable rishis of yore have long described various practices of yoga to inculcate a better sense of broadmindedness - an ‘It’s me’ feeling.
Indeed, the essence of life is to remain steadfast to one’s true-self. When a practitioner of yoga is in this state, all his virtues become evident and he becomes an embodiment of love, knowledge and bliss.
Yoga is an Indian system of keeping the body fit in every way — physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Though there is no prescribed age for beginning the practice of yoga, an early start would be more beneficial. Yoga gives an enormous fillip to our dormant faculties and may take us to new heights of self-realization and achievement.
It is becoming increasingly difficult for our youth to make time for exercise today. Although people do want to stay fit they are unable to arrange a slot for yoga in their busy schedule. Stress diminishes the body’s life-force day-by-day. This makes us prone to various diseases. It is, therefore, important that our youth become conscious of these problems and turn to yoga for much more than just sorting these out.
Keeping this in mind, Dr. Surakshit Goswami has described in detail two processes of yoga in this book that are especially designed to give maximum benefit in a short time.
I hope the yoga exercises, as described in this book, would rejuvenate our youth and allow them to scale whatever heights they desire in a long, healthy and fruitful life.
Blessings!!
Yoga is a philosophy, a science and an art. Yoga is also a therapy. It is India’s ancient scientific method of keeping the body and mind fit. Its practice instigates positive attitude in the practitioner, which augments creativity and enhances the frontiers of thought. Yoga is meant for everybody. It’s neither bound by the shackles of caste and creed nor by age. The only prerequisite is to have faith and a firm belief in its benefits.
And follow a regular, daily regime of yoga practice.
Owing to our busy, hectic schedules, we are unable to give enough thought to our health. Our fast-track lifestyle invites innumerable physical and psychological ailments — our meal-times and sleep habits have been disturbed; physical labor has decreased and inner thoughts are suffused with negativity. All these have resulted in an increase in tension and depression. Largely due to these factors a person starts to age before time. A bit of work exhausts and saps charm off our faces. We tend to get irritated even by trifles, thus reducing our intellectual capabilities. Creativity and positively get diminished. All these act as a stumbling block in our way to progress.
Modern lifestyle has resulted in an increased number of cases of obesity, stress, hypertension, diabetes, deformity of backbone etc. In such a situation, a person, even if he/she wants to do something for his physical and mental wellbeing, is at loss. They just don’t know what to do —whether they should join a gym, go for walks or practice yoga. Again, what should be the duration of the workout, how to get maximum benefit from the minimum time put in for the purpose, whether there are any side effects or not, etc. All these lead to procrastination.
‘While some people, notwithstanding their hectic schedule, are conscious about their health and try to remain fit, a majority of them remain negligent towards it. Keeping these predicaments in mind, we have prepared an exercise regime called Pran Oorja Yoga after several years of research. This exercise takes only 30 minutes. If a person can manage to take a half-hour slot out of his busy schedule, he/she will be able to keep diseases at bay and remain energetic throughout the day. Pran Oorja Yoga can also help in curing several diseases which have already attacked the body. It is highly effective in keeping a person agile and youthful for a long time.
Besides the 30-minute Pran Oorja Yoga, this book also describes the three-minute Pran Oorja Kriya. One’s mind attains peace and attentiveness by practicing this kriya. This kriya is a panacea for mental problems. It can be practiced by all, anywhere and anytime.
This book also contains valuable information related to diet and a daily routine for a healthy life.
This book was made possible due to the blessings of the Almighty. I was simply the medium; the real motivating factors were my elders and other righteous people. For this I offer my sincere regard and gratitude to my spiritual guru, my father Pandit Narendra Goswami and mother Shrimati Lakshmi Devi, and Professor Ishwar Bharadwaj ji, Chairman, Department of Yoga, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar. Simultaneously, I am also grateful to all those who, directly or indirectly, are related to the publication of this book.
