In Ayurveda, Prameha is considered as one of the 'Ashta Mahagada' which originates due to deranged metabolism. Even though Prameha is a TridoshaVyadhi (a disease involving all three of the psychophysiologic principles known as Doshas i.e. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), it is basically a disease with Kapha predominance. With the increasing prevalence of prameha, especially in the middle age group population, who are commonly affected in India. the chances of developing micro and macrovascular complications are very high and is going to bring enormous burden on the family, society and health care providers involved in the management of prameha.
This book "Prameha in Ayurveda" is a complete compilation of the prameha disease, which is divided in five comprehensive chapters and is especially designed to offer a balanced overview of not only the pathophysiology but also well describes the mythological origin, evolution, classification, symptoms, clinical manifestations, complications and management of prameha for both Ayurvedic students and physicians. Every attempt is made to highlight fast facts in each chapter especially through flow charts & tables to break the monotony of text. This book, hence is a humble effort to sensitize all Ayurvedic students & physicians involved in management of prameha by use of Asavas, Avalehas, Medicated oils, Guggulus, Rasa aushadhis & Yoga Asanasto pick up these simple tips so as to enable them to rationalize their practice more judiciously.
Dr. Neha Sharma is presently working as Assistant Professor in Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College, Chandigarh. She is having teaching as well as clinical experience of more than 3 years in Kayachikitsa. She did her graduation in the year 2012 from M.S.M. Institute of Ayurveda. khanpurkalan, Sonepat. After that she was selected in All India PG Entrance examination of KLE University Belgaum in year 2012. Later she did her post-graduation in Kayachikitsa from BMK Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belgaum (2012-2015). During this period she attended various International Conferences and participated in National & State Level Seminars. She has numerous publications in International and National Journals also. She has submitted her Dissertation on the topic "Evaluation of hypoglycaemic effect of processed green tea on two hour post meal glucose level with respect to time of administration in Madhumeha w.s.r. type 2 Diabetes Mellitus a randomized controlled clinical trial". After that she was awarded as Best PG scholar of 2012 in KLE University Belgaum. She also got the opportunity to teach the class of Kayachikitsa to the students of Middle Sex University, London, UK at BMK Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belgaum. Moreover, she has also experienced in treating the rare & chronic diseases like Lives Disorders, Wilsons's Disease & Neurological Disorders (Transverse myelitis, hemiplegia) in Ayurveda. She was privileged to be recommended for prestigious National Dhanwantry Ayurveda Award 2017 instituted by Ministry of AYUSH, Govt of India by Director, Deptt. of AYUSH, Govt. of Haryana. She is always interested and eagerous to work for promotion of Ayurveda. This book is a small effort to encourage and motivate the Ayurvedic students and to understand the basics of Prameha in Ayurveda.
