The Phoenix Girl is Dr. Potdar's second novel. The hero (heroine) of the novel is a highly qualified, stunningly attractive, beautiful and voluble. She has been a brainiae and an ideal in her student and academic career. An industry veteran, fatherly, Prof. Madhav has fascination for her because of the sincerity and dedication with witch Jyoti discharges the arduous academic duties so diligently. These qualities prove to be complimentary in harnessing the friendship bond irrespective of the age. Jyoti is always eager to learn myriad skills from her mentor, Prof. Madhav. Jyoti has a family and her life partner is her own choice, her classmate whom she marries after courting for several years with consent of all involved. Unfortunately Diwakar, her husband suffers from cancer and later on succumbs to the outrageous infirmity. Jyoti naturally is shattered, virtually left wistful and vapid in hands of destiny! During the course of treatment for Diwakar, Jyoti exemplarily demonstrates bravery and tranquil without getting frightened. The novel deals with the trauma Jyoti undergoes very pertinently.
