V Subrahmanya Sastri has extensively edited the Sanskrit text with English commentary. Phaladeepika, a fascinating study in the technique of astrology, was available only in the Grantha characters and very lately in the devanagari script.
Mantreswara, the author of this important work, came from the Tinnevelly District, the Southern end of the Indian Peninsula, and he appears to have flourished about the XVI centutry, Christian Era. His treatment of Astrology is remarkable in many ways and differs from that of several others. Mantreswara. gives very reasonable exposition of the effects of Transits and the cause and effect of following from such Transits. Also useful information and guidance which he furnishes concerning the effects of Bhavas. His chapter on Yogas is an interesting study of truth. The sarvatobhadrachakra which was referred to only by name in other publications has been very fully explained here. A Fundamental exposition of the concepts of Astrology and a handy and major reference work on Indian Astrology.
We are happy to present to the, public, this newly reset edition of the Phaladeepika by V Subrahmanya Sastri, which has been out of print for a very long time. Considering the importance of this book and the excellent commentary by the Master of translations of the several Astrological classic texts, we have made this endeavour. The Commentator Sri V Subrahmanya Sastri has referred several contemporary texts and given citations from these texts which add to the importance of this commentary on Phalaeepika. The profuse notes on the slokas of the main text are very much the life of the book. The text shows how the determination of a horoscope correctly is important for analysing a horoscope. The Preditive principles and the importance of transition has been in vogue for several centuries and the method of arriving at has been phenomenal. This also made the pinpointed predictions on one's life very accurate based on the determination of the planetary positions, its aspects and other relevant data.
This is the Tenth book in the series of reprints of important classics with commentaries and sanskrit texts on Astrology. The earlier books are Kalaprakasika, Shatpanchasika, Jathaka chandrika, Prasnajnana, Brihath Jataka, Prasnanushtana padhati, Sripati Padhathi, Hora sastra with the rudra commentary, chamatkara chintamani, and now Phaladeepika. We are very happy that the books in the series were well receied by the learners and proponents of Modern Astrology.
More books in the series are in preparation. They are Sarvartha chinthamni, Brihath Samhita, etc. which are in the project stage and will be released soon. Apart from these reprints of classical treatises, in our current publication programme we have released print editions of several analytical books on several aspects of astrology by renowned authors.
