Overall all the study conclude that the displaced persons in the beginning felt alienate since they carried the burden of economic distress and emotional strain in the initial year of their settlements in different districts of Haryana. The government measures of rehabilitation provided infrastructural support to them but their will to survive and commitment to work hard in adverse circumstances helped them survive all odds. The manner in which they established themselves in odd circumstances proved their entrepreneurial traits. It is by virtue of their entrepreneurial skill, patience, commitment to work that made them survive in tough situations. It was also noticed that the migrant populations who were provide agricultural land to settle in villages had a tendency to sell of their land and move to the urban centers which provided them multiple opportunities to distinguish themselves in the secondary and tertiary sector of the economy. The loans which were provided by the government were also productively utilized for expanding their commercial establishment. Thus it may be concluded that they showed tremendous resilience in negotiating with odd situation, they may be termed as 'mobile men' in true sense of the term.

Partition of India was one of the most traumatic events of history. Millions were uprooted from their roots and migrated as a consequence. This partition was a result of the 'Divide and Rule' policy followed by the British and taken up by the Muslims fundamentalists. The division was not based on a clear-cut acceptance of geographical boundaries by India and Pakistan. When the final Radcliffe Award was announced, it failed to satisfy the aspirations of the people. As a consequence, people were pushed out of their homes and heaths and thereby causing the largest violent migrations in the history of the world. The first ten years of the newly independent Government were largely taken up to settle these refugees. The government needed to rehabilitate these migrants socially, culturally, economically and it also provided them with psychological support. Though some work bordering on rehabilitation has been focused upon, I have made an in-depth inquiry into all these aspects. In order to give an operational aspect to my study, I have also carried out a survey-based inquiry into the process of rehabilitation.
