The author, Professor Ernest Wood, spent a large part of his life in India. He studied the yogic teachings of Shri Shankaracharya on which much of this book is based.
Although the book was written in the early 1900s, it still holds tremendous relevance for today's reader. The subject bypasses time and history to impact directly into the soul of every individual. Throughout the work, Wood directs the reader to transcend personal beliefs and religious practices and enter directly into one's inner most thoughts. By this means, rel. evant clarity can be achieved to know the true self and the purpose of existence.
Occult Training of the Hindus remains a practical and sound platform of teaching for the beginner as well as for the more adept who search for meaning and purpose in the confusing social conditions of today.
