After a one-year internship, the National Exit Test is required to be taken in order to receive a license to practice medicine in the relevant discipline of the Indian medical system and to register as a registered medical practitioner in either the State or National Register. According to the notification, a final-year medical undergrad student must take the National Exit Test in accordance with section 15 (1) (2) (3) of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020.
In order to assess clinical competency, knowledge of medical ethics, and the capacity to handle medico-legal problems as a medical practitioner in these fields, the NEXT exam will be problem-based. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine has stated to conduct a National Exit Test for granting license to practice as Medical Practitioners of respective disciplines of Indian System of Medicine. In this regard Ref. No. Sec/Commission/2023- 1/Misc dated 25.1.24 has been released by the commission. National Exit Test shall be conducted by the commission through a designated authority. The examination shall be based to test the clinical competency, medical ethics and medico legal issues of Ayurveda. Without qualifying the examination, Ayurvedic graduate shall not be eligible for enrollment in state or central register. In this regard, a public notice dated 30.4.24 has also been issued by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine. The book based on multiple choice questions has been written as per three essential components of the test; clinical competency, medical ethics and medici legal aspects of Ayurveda. In addition, general aptitude tests based on recent developments in Ayurveda have been included for enhancing the productivity of the book.
