Foreword Curiosity is not merely a survival trait. It contributes to engagement with the world at large, to growth and often to the joys of discovery and of making connections. Curiosity is what quizzers have in spadefuls, reading almost anything in sight, from jar labels to books across genres, often at most inappropriate times. Nothing is too trivial for them.

Introduction The authors are a group of doctors with one common thread running through all of them-the Armed Forces Medical College. Each of us started quizzing in school, winning laurels at various levels, but what changed our quizzing lives was the intense camaraderie and competitiveness that was a feature of the quiz club at AFMC. The spirited sessions of questions and answers, the intense mentoring by seniors in the club, the sheer madness of travelling to various parts of the country to participate in obscure competitions and the thrill of winning, is something that binds all of us. Three decades separate the senior-most contributor from the youngest one, but what is common is the child-like glee that one gets on discovering a new and amazing fact. The armed forces in India are shrouded in a veil for all those who have never served in it.
