K. Kanchan Arya, an elegant simple hearted personality is a spiritually blessed authoress. She was born on 23rd December 1955, is M.A, M.Ed. from Delhi University. Her budding talent of writing came into light when she got associated with the famous Ayurvedic legend, the Late Vaidya Bhagwan Dash and translated a large number of his English books into Hindi. She herself also penned a few Ayurvedic books. She also got the privilege of translating a few English books viz. 'Know Your Religion: Part 1 & 2', 'Vedic Vitamin: Part 1 & 2' and `Mandookya Upanishad' written by famous spiritual scholar Swami Satyam Ji. After this, she wrote `Maharshi Dayanand Granth Parichaya (Prashnottari)', llyvharbhanu Prashnottari' and `Kya Hai AapkeJeevan Ki Sacchaii'.
Kanchan ji, the torch-bearer for the spiritual upliftment and character building of the young, was initially tutored by Late Smt. Yashwati Ji who actually strengthened her spiritual and Vedic foundation, thus enabling her to be in close contact with Brahmachari Raj Singh Arya from whom she learned many important aspects of spirituality.
Then under the guidance of the learned scholars viz., Acharya Anand Prakash Ji, Acharya Satyajit Ji & Acharya Ashish Ji, she studied different Darshan shastras and now is privileged to be under the constant guidance of Guru Swami Chitteshwaranand Ji Saraswati.
In today's society, both parents and children are going through a challenging time. While the parents are finding it increasingly difficult to connect with their children, the children are learning values being propagated by the consumerist and technology ridden society. At this juncture, the book 'Mother's Gift to the Young' by Km. Kanchan Arya is a very fresh and relevant attempt. Be it any era, society or time, the moral values of compassion, love, empathy, honesty, respect, sharing, caring, humanity and integrity will always remain the same. These moral values lay the foundation of a prosperous and happy society. Hence, it is the moral obligation of senior citizens to pass on these moral values to their next generation. And it's important to pass this legacy of moral lessons in a manner that it reaches out to them. Through the book penned as letters from a mother to children, Km. Kanchan Arya, has not only bonded with the children of today, but also subtly communicated the values of life, which they often tend to ignore and forget.
While it is easy to blame children for deterioration of values in society, it is also important to understand that moral values are best taught when practised. The children are what they see in society, and it is our duty to build that society. There is a need to build a bond between parents and children. This book through the medium of letters aims to do the same i.e. build an ideal society. This book is must read for both the parents and children. Parents need to redefine the art of parenting in a manner that it stimulates positive growth of their child. As for the children, they need to understand that everything they see is not real, and have to learn to differentiate the real from the unreal, good from bad which comes from age old wisdom and values passed from one generation to another.
I am really thankful to Kanchan Ji and everyone else in the making of this book. This book is truly a service to society and mankind.
