Ayurveda was taught by sages to their eligible disciples in olden days, known as Guru Shishya Parampara. Present times this type of learning is rarely found. In this century different universities have started this graduation (B. A. M. S.) Post graduation (M. D. (Ay) And Ph. D. in India and also in western countries. To obtain the seat in graduate course and post graduate courses of Ayurveda candidates face the entrance examination. After completion of graduation and Post-graduation, for getting services as Medical Officers/Lecturers, different state government Public Service Commissions, Union Public Service Commission ESIC have conducting the screening test in order to select good candidates. Naturally there is a lost of competition in job as well as Post graduate courses. But candidates are in dark without proper guidance. Keeping in view of the difficulties faced by competitors, I intended to bring up a set of Model Question Papers by filtering, probing, piercing and extracting the essence of Ayurvedic standard texts. These questions are based on the vast experience of the author coaching to last five to six batches and many of the questions were given in competitive examination. Key given to the Model Papers are properly checked. If anybody finds mistakes in this book. I welcome whole heartedly for their positive suggestions and obliged.
Life span is progressing rapidly. Every sphere of life is competitive. The academic life is also not untouched with this fact with the result the field of Medicine, Engineering, Biological Sciences, Social Sciences have become very competitive. To study even the preliminary course of the above mentioned sciences are obtained by hard competition. The field of Ayurveda which was initially taught by Guru Shishya Parampara (Teacher taught system) is now obsolete. The study of Ayurveda is like that of the biosciences, are started to be taught very systematically and scientifically. The teaching and research methods are developed at under-graduation (B. A. M. S.), Post-graduation (M. D. (Ay.) and doctorate (Ph. D.) level.
The seats are very limited for above mentioned academic courses of Ayurveda, so naturally the students are to face the competition to achieve the success. For getting success in competition, there should be either intensive, vast study of the subjects or concise, precise knowledge covering the important and most useful topics of the subject described critically be adopted. Keeping the above views, as I have gone through the Pandu Lipi (Manuscript) of this book Model Papers for Ayurvedic competitive examinations by Dr. G. P. Rao has endeavoured in this field to help the needy students desiring to seek admission for the study of Ayurveda at Post graduate level.
Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao who came here In I. M. S., B. H. U., for his M. D. (Ay.) After competing the entrance examination realised the problems of entrance test and noticed its difficulties for the common students.
