Shirdi Sai Baba, throughout the time He was in mortal coil, believed and preached two important virtues - Shraddha and Saburi. He loved plants, animals and humans alike. The form of existence of any being made no difference to the ever-empathetic and kind Baba. His love of light (diya) is known to all Sai devotees. When the oil traders of Shirdi refused to give oil to Baba to light His diyas, He lit them by pouring water from His begging bowl.
The aim of this book is on the same lines - to spread love and light to one and all. The stories of 36 devotees in this book stand as a testimony to the miracles Baba can perform in our lives. Let us do our bit in imbibing and spreading the love and light of Shirdi Sai and may the world be blessed abundantly by this loving Guru.
SUJAY KHANDELWAL is a businessman and a philanthropist from Kolkata. He is an intimate devotee of Sai Baba. Through the path of seva and bhakti, he has helped and inspired countless people. He also runs a YouTube channel by the name of Miracles of Sai with Sujay Khandelwal which is growing fast in popularity. His previous book was Dwarkamai: A Magical Trip, released in 2021. Sujay is also a car enthusiast and an ardent traveller.
ARATHI NAGESH, the co-author of this book, has been passionate about writing from her childhood. Being well-versed in two languages, English and her mother tongue Kannada, she has experimented successfully in almost all genres. Her magnum opus, till date, remains the translation of two volumes of the English epic, The Story of Civilisation by Will and Ariel Durant. Many of her articles have been published in magazines worldwide. Apart from writing and translating, she is actively involved in rendering social service and works tirelessly for the upliftment of the downtrodden in the society. She also supports the education of the girl-child. She feels eternally blessed and chosen by Baba as she marks her debut in the field of spiritual writing.
There are many such persons, whose desire for Baba's darshan was not thus satisfied. If these persons, believing in Him, listen to His Leelas, their quest for milk (darshan) will be, to a great extent, satisfied by the butter-milk (Leelas). Chapter XII-Shri Sai Satcharita.
Deep love and gratitude towards the kindest Saint in this world Shri Sainath Maharaj who inspired both the authors - Ms. Aarthi Nagesh and Mr. Sujay Khandelwal to take this endeavor of bringing forth the Miracles of Sai for the welfare of his devotees and humanity at large. Sai Baba, God incarnate took Avtar to spread love and humanity in masses. His grace looms as Miracles to ordinary people which heals their souls.
Aarthi and Sujay are ardent devotees of Sai Baba and in their lives have faced enough miracles by their beloved Lord Sai that they decided on their very first meeting only to bring to world the splendid leelas of Baba - Miracles - in form of a book for quenching the thirst of all Sai lovers. With the firm faith that Miracles of Sai will last till the end of this world. The authors wish that the book is incessant as remembrance of His Leelas is only way to happiness, peace and salvation.
With these noble intentions in heart and blessings of Lord Ganesh they started this humble effort of bringing out to you wonderfully blissful Leelas - Miracles of Sai Baba from various corners of this world. They assimilated various miraculous experiences and incidents that devotees have faced across the globe and gave it words in the shape of a book. Both feel highly indebted and thankful to the merciful Baba who only planted this idea of collecting and editing His Miracles in their hearts and mind.
For an author it is much easier to pen down his/ her own experiences, but to compile and write another devotee's experience is not an easy task. Each story has been collected from the devotee in word or voice note format and then the authors spoke to individual devotee to know more about the experiences and then the final story was written without distorting the facts. The authors have also tried to relate the stories of these devotees with the masterpiece Shri Sai Satcharita mentioning relevance of chapter numbers to which the readers can refer to. A challenge which the authors faced was how to sequence the stories.
I had the opportunity to go through the manuscript of the book Miracles of Sai, Forever and Beyond authored by Shri Sujay Khandelwal and Smt. Aarthi Nagesh. I find the book very innovative and interesting. The wide canvas of narrations of Sai devotees, both in terms of geographical locations in India and abroad, as well as themes is a unique feature of the publication.
Connecting each story with some Sai Vaani with reference to Shree Sai Satcharita is a very innovative feature.
Narrating personal mystical miraculous or experience around the unique mystic Saint and Sadguru Shirdi Sai (with the devine attributes of omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence) needs to be attempted in a very responsible, ethical and truthful manner (For example Dabholkar, B V Narsimha Swami, Rigopoulos, Marianne Warren, Sai Saran Anand, and CB Satpathy). This being basically a collection volume the role of the two authors is extremely crucial in this context.
Every breath I breathe nowadays is by the grace and mercy of my Sai. His omnipresence stuns me often. He answers all my questions so patiently and at times I have one to one conversation which are mostly initiated by me and sometimes by HIM. He converses with me mostly like a friend, but He guides me more like my father, my mother and my Guru. He is one with whom I can share anything and everything. I do not feel any guilt when I confess to him about my mistakes or shortcomings.
I am a human being who has been brought up in such a religious and spiritual environment where worship of God has been injected into me from the childhood. Even today when I look back at my childhood, it reflects in the Shivling (idol) of Lord Shiva which my father bought me even before my teens as I kept insisting and persuaded him. I do not know how and when that pooja turned into devotion in my life. My life journey of 47 years now has seen phases when I dropped out God from myself and then again held him back or rather, I would say He held me back to make me believe in Him. It's not been a normal life like any other individual that I have spent in these years until Sai shook me completely to make me believe in him unconditionally.
Like most of the Hindu families I too have been introduced by my family to the common gods, Lord Rama, Krishna, Shiva, Durga, Kali etc. but it was my wife Mrs. Riya Khandelwal on whom I have my highest gratitude to connect me to my Guru who is Anant Koti, Brahmandanayak, Rajadhiraj, Yogiraj. Parabrahma, Shree Sachidanand Sadguru Sainath Maharaj. During our courtship period my wife who is such a staunch devotee of Sai, took me once to the Sai mandir near her house in Kolkata. Those days I was going through a phase where in God for me was just to do a mandatory Pooja, as not doing that would bring about an unrest in my mother's heart. My first visit to Sai mandir in 1998 stunned me as I saw the pictures of the gods of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian together in that mandir. My mind was perplexed with so many thoughts which arose out of this unusuality. I had never ever seen such a conglomerate of gods of so many religions together in one religious place endorsing Baba's preaching of Sabka Malik Ek. It was thereafter I did not relent on going to that mandir whenever I was asked to. I never ever used to take the initiative though during those days.
