I feel extremely happy to write a foreword to this book on Management Lessons from Mahabharata authored by Dr. Pratik C Patel, my brilliant research scholar.
Mahabharata is one of the oldest epics of Hindu mythology full of incidents that provide moral and ethical lessons. These moral and ethical values greatly inspire and teach the present generation and provide guidance and direction in the situations when there is a dilemma. It has significant implications for the managers, who have to manage manpower and other resources, devise strategies, make decisions and thus to lead their firms on a growth trajectory.
The author has rightly identified the characters and the incidents from Mahabharata epic and has very aptly extracted lessons that the manager needs to learn to provide an affirmative push to whatever they might have learnt from the modern literature on management. It thus, supplements the knowledge the managers and executives have gained through formal education in the area of management.
