Grahalaghava Karanam is an important text of Hindu practical astronomy by Pandit Ganesh Daivajna which went out of print long since. With the help of this book, one can prepare better Ephemeris and scholars interested in the subject were placed in a great trouble due to lack of a correct text.
It is a matter of great pleasure that Dr. Ram Chandra Pandey, Vidya-Varidhi has taken great pains to bring out a good text with the critical edition of the commentary by Mallari.
Those interested in the subject will be able to find out that in this edition Dr. Pandey has endeavoured a lot to incorporate current examples as available from 1896 Shaka era (1974 A. D.), whereas, in the old edition of Pandit Vishwanatha, obsolete data are available.
The value of the book has been increased by the addition of a lucid commentary in Hindi and the author certainly deserves praise from the scholarly world for his labour.
