C. Subrahmaniya Bharathiar has an epithet 'Mahakavi' and known as poet, story writer, freedom fighter and social reformer. He is considered as one of India's greatest poets. Story writing was his one of the other sides of components which is praised for his personalities. The elements capsules in his stories are of from his experience with the people whoever so he had come across and from the ground of his imagination. There are also some stories related to his friends. The theme mostly concerns with criticism, condemning the unethical social practice, profile of notorious con- temporary and reformist contentions. All the rendered versions of his stories have been selected from recommended books only. The English equivalents of Tamil versions are found communicative as well as semantic translations. The titles are not corresponding inparallel of conceptually transferred the Tamil versions.
So my attachment towards Tamil goes without saying. Of all my love towards Bharathiyar's works cannot be explained in words. Whenever I get a chance, I used to tell his short stories to my friends and especially kids. Name a feel - Patriotism, love, friendship, devotion, anger, pathos, etc., it will be perfectly explained in his stories.
When I was wondering how to take his work to the rest of the world who do not know the Tamil language, International Institute of Tamil Studies and Tamil Development Department came up with this excellent idea of translating 'Bharathiyar's' stories in English. Apart from this, with the motto "Every town is my town; Everyone is my relative", International Institute of Tamil Studies is contributing and taking various steps for spreading Tamil language and values along with Tamil Development Department. I would like to thank Dr.P.Selvakumar Associate professor, Facility of Tamil Language & Liuguistics, International Institute of Tamil Studies, Chennai-600113 and Coordinator of project for taking this initiative. Here, I wish to thank Vidya Srinivasan and Mrs. Gayathri Srinivas, for finding parallel correspondence in English to the Tamil texts.
