About the Author
Madhurantakam Rajaram (1930-2000) had thirteen collections of short stories, three novels, five plays, four dance dramas, two collections of lyrics to his credit. He also translated Akhilan and Jayakantan from Tamil into Telugu. Rajaram was actively associated with various literary organizations and won several awards like Andhra Pradesh Sahitya Akademi award, T. Gopichand award, K. Srinivas award, Tamil University award and honorary D.Litt. from S.K. University, Anantapur. Madhurantakam Rajaram Kathalu brought to him the Sahitya Akademi award in 1993.
D. Ranga Rao has actively been involved in teaching English since 1953 and worked on various prestigious positions. He has been translating from Telugu into English and vice versa.
The Pearl Palanquin, Light And Shade, Kausalya, Reed Bushes, Living together, Three Generations, Thorns of Life, Mandadi Kathalu are among his major publications in translation The Pearl Palanquin brought to him the first prize for best translation by Vishwa Sahiti Samithi, Hyderabad.
