A story is nothing but the narration of an event or a series of events which had actually taken place or creation of imagination Even imaginative creations are, in a way, projections based partially or entirely on past experiences, events or knowledge of the author, to a great extent. These narrations or projections of human experiences are written and presented in the style and language of the authors. An author gets immense satisfaction if the stories written by him are able to stir the thoughts or touch the core of hearts or convey some lasting moral values to the reader.
Presented in this book is a collection of 21 stories based on events, experiences and imaginations written during the span of the past three decades. Four of the stories, viz., "Ennosee", "Found and Lost", "Haunted House" and "Long Live the Organisation" had won prizes in the All-India Short Story Competitions conducted by Parichay, the house-magazine of Philips India Ltd., in four different years and published in the issues of Parichay. Most of the crime stories written by the author and included in this collection were published in Detective Digest, a crime magazine which has ceased publication since the past few years. All the crime stories were based on actual events with changes, of course, in names of persons, places, dates, etc. Most of the remaining stories were published in Commemorative souvenirs of different Associations, Clubs etc.
The author acknowledges his indebtedness to all the characters in the stories, dead, alive or in the obscure world of imagination for their due roles however small they may be. He is grateful to all those who encouraged him to write and most importantly, to Goddess Saraswathy who bestowed him with the wisdom and ability to write. He also acknowledges his indebtedness and records. his thanks to those who gave him prizes to some of the stories and to those who published them in various publications.
Last, but not the least, thanks are also due to each reader of this book for extracting from it, whatever is worth from his/her point of view.
