This book is a comprehensive commentary on an octet sung by Sage Vishvaanara in praise of Lord Shiva. Various references are quoted from the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, and Ithihaasaas to help the readers understand how Lord Shiva is the ultimate essence of the scriptures and surrender to Lord Shiva alone leads one to liberation.

I have been through many books and scripture- based texts but I found that this book is the most unique among them as it covers the Shruti (Vedas and Upanishads) and Smriti (Puranas and Ithihaasaas). This book contains references from all the authentic scriptures and commentaries. It goes on to educate us and tells us that Lord Shiva is the supreme personality and how only he is the object of desire and should be meditated upon.

The author has put a great effort and provided us with many authentic references and meanings from the scriptures. The author also informs us about the benefits of engaging in Shiva bhakti and how one can get all his desires fulfilled and tasks accomplished by the grace of Lord Shiva.

This book contains a detailed commentary on Abhilaasha Ashtakam, an octet sung by Sage Vishvaanara praising Lord Shiva. The word "abhilASha" in Sanskrit means desire (or) wish.

Every verse of Abhilaasha Asthakam is connected with various aphorisms from the Upanishads. By reading this commentary, one would be able to understand that Lord Shiva is the ultimate essence of all the scriptures (Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Upa-Puranas, Smritis, Agamas, Ithihaasaas, etc.) and devotional service to him leads one to liberation.
