Life-Weaves: Selected Poems of N. Gopi: Life-Weaves is a collection of selected poems of N. Gopi from his 26 volumes, a tribute to his substance and style. His poems endow everyday sights with novelty and a sense of awe. A close scrutiny of Gopi's poetic universe exhibits his dexterity in deliberate selection of poetic material from a repertoire that is mundane and the ordinary. He, then, lifts the material in subliminal ways to poetic profundity with his magic wand of nostalgia, novelty and personal touch. The mechanism of transformation is the point of interest or of evocation that re-energises the beginning and concluding parts of his poems. Such instances abound in this volume as the poet is busy demonstrating that the 'The lethargy of custom,' or the habit of seeing the same thing every day, has not lost its charm on him.
