This booklet is the first in the series of the mono- graphs containing excerpts from revered Swami Chidanandaji's printed discourses. These excerpts have been summarised and compiled with a view to give the readers the selected pearls from Swamiji's invaluable wealth of wisdom. The excerpts are our selection and are by no means exhaustive. It is hoped that after going through them the readers will be inspired to read Swamiji's complete works.

This booklet deals with 'LIFE'-that is very near and dear-but at the same time not properly understood. We earnestly want our readers to see their own life in the mirror of Swamiji's noble thoughts and be serious about achieving the ultimate goal of life-God-realisation.

At the end of this booklet a list of Swamiji's books is given. Some of them are the sources of the excerpts. Each excerpt or a group of excerpts ends with an Arabic numeral given in brackets. This numeral tallies with the serial number of the list and indicates that this excerpt in question has been taken from that book.

Sanskrit words have been put in italics. Their meaning can be understood by their English equivalents given within commas, in brackets or by referring to the glossary at the end of the booklet.
