Visvamitra is one among the Saptarshis. This is an attempt to study Visvamitra based on the historical, mythological and legendary details provided by the Vedic and Puranic literature through the ages. This book is divided in to nine chapters. In the first chapter the concept of Risi, Saptarshi, various Rishikulas etc. are included. The study of Mantradrashta Visvamitra is in second chapter. In the third chapter the historical and social analysis of the Mantras of Visvamitra is included. The symbolical and mythological study of Visvamitra is contained in the fourth chapter. The fifth chapter is the study of Visvamitra tradition based on the Epics. The legendary personage of Visvamitra based on Mahapuranas is included in the sixth chapter. The Vedic and historical analysis of Dasaranjayuddha is included as the seventh chapter. The eighth chapter is the study of the Visvamitra and Vasishtha conflicts. Ninth chapter is the conclusions of the study.
Dr.Indira.K had done her degree in Sanskrit from SVTB College Mannapatta Palakkad. She had taken PG in Sanskrit Sahitya from SNGS College Pattambi, Palakkad. Her Mphil and PhD degrees are from Department of Sanskrit Sahitya Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit ,Kalady,Kerala.She had published some research papers. Now she is working in Sanskrit Department SVTB College ,Sreekrishnapuram
