Preface
Years of meticulous preparation coupled with unflinching devotion of a few dedicated souls at last has borne the desired result. To me it is a wonderful achievement which has been possible only through the blessings of our most venerable Guruji, the author of Kriya Yoga - Its Mystery and Performing Art. The second Indian edition of this now famous treatise on the ancient art of Kriya yoga practices has at last arrived within the reach of a much wider readership. What appears most surprising and encouraging to some extent is that the tome has received warm reception among the devotees who like to roam in the realm of spirituality, notwithstanding the fact that the earlier edition bristled with so many howlers and shortcomings. We have made every endeavour to make the present edition errorfree and therefore more presentable to the readers. We cannot claim that the revised edition is perfectly flawless, as the cliche goes - 'a perfection is to be aimed at, never to be achieved'. The unintended shortcomings that may still smear the general overtone of this book are entirely due to the imperfections that plague the translater-editor who is really sorry for any foible as such.
Here I take the opportunity of recording my gratitude to Sri Subir Kr. Ghosh, the most affable person I have ever seen, for going through the entire manuscript to make the book mistake free.
I am obliged to Sri Amitansu Roy for the generous gift of his time as also his expertise in correcting the diacritical marks.
My gratitude is also due to Sri Amarjit Kumar and Sri Sourabh Verma from New Delhi for the interest they have taken to correct the Arabic allusions quoted in the book.
I am indebted to Sri Asis Boral, Sri Biswanath Sengupta and Sri Abijit Kundu, my Gurubrothers, for the unremitting services they have rendered in publishing this edition.
I acknowledge & appreciate my Gurubrothers James Manto and Dr Miguel Estevez from USA for their efforts to make this title available to readers around the world through the Internet.
I thank Sri Joydeep Dey of Color Graphics who has seen the book through various stages of publication.
Finally, the sense of fulfilment of a mission with the publication of the present edition prompts me to make obeisance, once again, to the presiding deity of my life, Swami Sadhanananda Giri, my most revered Guruji, who has filled my lifelong voyage to spirituality through the tortuous paths of this mundane world with eternal bliss allowing me to ascertain that this trivial life is also no less meaningful. Kudos to his lotus feet again and again.
