Book Description
Foreword

Foreword This little book is a compilation of the Paramahamsa's lectures on Krishna's life and its message. Paramahamsa Prajnanananda's special fondness and love for Krishna shines through these pages making it not only a metaphorical explanation but also a genuine offering of love at the altar of Lord Krishna's feet. Just as Sri Krishna captivated his followers with enchanting notes of his flute, Prajnananandaji enchants his listeners with the captivating grace of his words.
As a modern day teacher who is himself an embodiment of love and compassion, Paramahamsa Prajnanananda continues the work of Lord Krishna making accessible the sometimes obscure or elusive meaning behind the Lord's actions. What the Divine teacher performed this saintly teacher explains in clear relevant language enabling us to understand through selected episodes, the true worth and beauty of Kṛṣnavatar.
We are happy to release this issue on August 10 2001, the occasion of his 41st birthday, which, this year falls so close to Sri Krsna Janmastami, the birthday of Krishna.

Introduction

The story goes that when sage Vyasa had finished writing many works, he was still dissatisfied and felt something lacking. Then it occurred to him what the missing element was. He had left out the most important aspect of spiritual development: love. It was then that he began the Bhagavatam. All those who had the pleasure of reading this work cannot miss the love and devotion which inform every episode and every character in this epic, especially Krishna Katha. Krishna is known for his childish pranks and pastoral interludes in Brindavan, growing up as a cowherd. Mothers have long regaled children with stories of his antics. Volumes of poetry have been written about his romance with the Gopis. Saints like Meera and Chaitanya found liberation in singing his songs immersed in his love. Krishna is also known for his teaching on the battlefield for his famous disciple Arjuna. He is the one god, who lived a worldly life and was also a great spiritual teacher.
