Kalicharan Patnayak, a ledgendary playwright, director, dancer, singer, lyricist, editor and children's literatteur of the twentieth century Odissa is a true Odia hero, literally and metaphorically. The monograph focuses Kalicharan Patnayak's endeavours to configurate a cultural identity out of the hazy contours of political subversion and distortion, spanning for eight decades through the colonial and post colonial times.
Ramesh Prasad Panigrahi (b. 1944-) is a playwright, director, lyricist, stage designer and a reputed theatre academician. Besides his hundred published plays, short and long, he writes screen plays and tele serials. He has also co-edited books on painting and has been awarded by the state Sangeet Natak Akademi for his contribution to theatre and cinema.
