In 900 A. D. the ancient India came to an end and it was the beginning of the medieval era. It was at this time in 966 A.D. the Kachchawahas migrated from Gwalior and Dulhe Rao taking the help of his father-in-law Ralhansi the Chauhan chief took possession of Dausa. His descendants extended their territory deafiting the Meenas and established the reign of Amber which became their capital.
It was in 1727 A.D. that Sawai Jai Singh an astute politician and a man possessing foresight realised that the an Mughal dynasty was becoming weak, being ruled by weak rulers and also the later mughals were not as friendly as the earlier rulers. He decided to make a new city and thus he made Jaipur city, which was planned after some of the modern cities in the west.
This book is an effort to give a short sketch of the Kachchawa dynasty and about the city of Jaipur and about the various monuments which were made by Sawai Jai Singh II and subsequently by each ruler who followed him. It is hoped that this book will provide authentic information which will be use full for the foreign and domestic tourists and to all those who have love for the city and interest in history.
