The original version of this work was included in the introduction to MISING GOMPIR KUMSUNG, a lexicographical work on the Mising language, compiled and edited by the present author (the policies for compilation being formulated by a board of editors) and published by the Anundoram Borooah Institute of Language, Art and Culture (abbreviated ABILAC), Rajaduar, North Guwahati, Assam in March, 2010. My idea was to undertake, when I feel like, a thorough revision of the Mising grammar, so included, widening the scope of the treatment, as called for. However, there arose recently an unforeseen need for a grammar of the Mising language, written in English and published as an independent volume - a situation in which the Mising Agom Kébang, the highest linguistic (and literary) organization of the Mising people of Assam, requested me to undertake for the purpose of early publication a quick revision of the Mising grammar that had formed a part of the introduction to the lexicographical work, as already mentioned above. I have really had to be quite pacy in the process of revision to fill the urgent need. The hurry I am afraid is likely to be reflected here and there in the present work.
