A book of Anatomy written by a teacher in Physiology will raise the brows of experts but it had been my inherent desire for last 30 years where I found it necessary to know gross anatomy before coming to the physiology subject. Without the basic knowledge of human anatomy it is not possible to talk physiology with first year medical students. The students though supposed to learn about mammalians in their early education, rarely I came across students with knowledge of human anatomy. Health and medical professionals when describing the human body use the basic anatomical positions. This knowledge is great for standardizing a basic body position so everyone knows which part of the body is the front and which part of the body is the back and which parts of the body are the sides -- but it's not very functional in terms of actual human movement. How often do you stand in the anatomical position ? Never ! How often do you initiate functional "real world" movements from the anatomical position ? Never! Thus, the anatomical position is good to know and understand as we discuss functional fitness and human anatomy, but it has its limitations in the real world of dynamic human movement. A modified version of the anatomical position is used to begin balance exercises-so that's how we'll use the figure - A basic position described in chaper 2 but with the hands and arms in a relaxed and natural position (palms towards body). From here, static and "inner zone" balance is obtained then maintained with mastery. Once static/inner zone balance has been mastered in the starting position, one can then move towards more dynamic or "functional" balance exercises. This book is based chiefly on Grey's and Boyd's anatomy books so the matter is authentic and reliable. Most of the figures are based or traced from the same books therefore the student's wont find any discrepancy in their future studies.
These days health conditions are deteriorating very fast. Not a single house can be identified without sick person. No medicine is able to cope up with meeting requirements. Therefore, there is upsurge of variety of healing systems such as Art of living, Yoga, Pranic, Reiki, Acupressure, Acupuncture, Colour therapy, Sound therapy, Aroma therapy etc. Therepists of these systems are developing them without schooling or attending long time courses. As such, there is requirement of basic knowledge of Physiology and Anatomy for such paramedicals who are outnumbering the present strength of medicos. Therefore there is heavy demand of such books. Prof. Dr. G. C. Agrawal, since his association with this Sansthan, is doing the pioneer job in this field. He has written, so far, the following books in Hindi & English covering Physiology, analysis of diseases with connected pathology, radiology but each book with difference.
In view of rising popularity of the above books amongst both medicals and paramedicals. The author is taking keen interest to supply the updated material on various topics of the subjects as per requirement.
Growing health consciousness in common masses few basic books are also required for the awareness of the masses. Presentation of the subject and simplicity of language are hallmarks of the authour's writings
