Astrology is the language of the stars. "Astro" stands for stars and "logos" means language. It is the nuances, the reach ad the depth, ad the scope of this fascinating, language that makes up Astrology. Astrology has three main branches "Skandha Traya" viz Hora (Individual), Ganita (Mathematics), and Samhita (Collectivities). This book introduces a discerning reader to all the three branches. The introduction provides an authentic overview of the Astrological world giving an educated prospective by taking in the majestic grandeur and the amazing reach of this science, to all prospective readers who wish to seriously study this subject in greater details.
Our journey of understanding of this Vedanta commences with salutations to Mahrishi Parashara and Varahmihira, the sages who have bequeathed the Astrology knowledge to us.
Time moves on. It is a relentless march. The beautiful dawn heats itself to become noon and then wanes away to be mellow dusk. The night dies to be born a fresh day. Time marches on steadily, softly and relentlessly. Man sees his future becoming the present and his present rolling into an endless abyss of the past. The present is forever contemplating plans and carrying out endless maneuvers to brighten the future. It is here that Astrology steps in it prepares one to match steps with the strides of time. Astrology is a harmoniser interfacing between a person and his destiny. Astrology is the one that can spot the "Golden Deers" of Lust and Greed and save the abduction of Sita like wisdom. The utility of Astrology and a peep into its history are captivating expositions for a 21st century, educated upwardly mobile young population. This fascinating "Vedanga" explains that "Bharata" is "Karmabhoomi" made strong, "adhyatmic" and imperishible by our Sages, Rishis and Gurus doing "Tapas", Japas and Teerthas. One reads history and echoes Iqbals words "Hai Baat kuch aisi ki hasti mitthi nahin hamari".
The annexure on Astrology in Mughal Period is must read. It explains the depth and the hold which astrology exercised on the Mughal rulers- Babar, Humayun, Akbar, and Jahengir. It is the most secular of all educational subjects.

About the Authors
Col. A.K. Gour was born in Lucknow on the 9th of March 1938 in a religious brahmanical family. He graduated from University of Delhi and was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in December 1957 through NDA and IMA. After serving the nation for more than 3 decades, he took voluntary retirement in February 1989. <> His mother had taught him to trust God during his formative years emphasising the helplessness of an individual in controlling ones destiny. This was properly honed under the able guidance of Shri K.N. Rao where he completed his "Jyotish Visharada" and joined the faculty of Institute of Astrology, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He being one of the brilliant, sincere and dedicated student of astrology and has contributed many astrological articles in various magazines and particularly to Journal of Astrology A research based astrological magazine of Shri. K.N. Rao.
He is the senior most faculty member, after Shri. K.N. Rao, and his seniority is quite visible in his command over this great science called Astrology. He regularly undertakes pilgrimages apart from doing regular "Havans" as per Hindu beliefs ad visit to Kailasa Manasarovara in 1990 is one his fondest pilgrim memories.
He is the most admired and loved teacher the Institute of Astrology, BVB. His teaching principles and style is such that Astrology becomes the easiest subject one can learn. Having the army background, he puts forth various tasks (lessons) in a planned way for the student to understand, contemplate and to practically follow this subject, which is the beauty of his teaching.
He is the author of the first extensively researched genuine book on "Professions", which has helped lot of students and parents in particular for analyzing the carreer of their children.
His book, "Transits The Celstial Delivery Boy", is one iof its kind in bringing out the secrets of predictive astrology of timing the events.
