Shri A.V. Sundaram now 74 years is a retired mechanical angineer who worked in educational institutions. He is a student of Jyotisha since 35 years and was closely associated of ICAS over 25 years ago, he gave astrology classes along with Dr. B.V. Raman and acted in quality of ICAS's National Joint Secretary till last year. He is an instructor in Nadi astrology and currently conducts classes while also being pledged to research. Mr. Sundaramji's keenness rests in bridging the scientific outlook of astrology with its philosophical aspect since jyotisha is based on rebirth. The author of an introductory book in French titled "Vedic Astrology: Destiny and Free-Will" published by IQ Editions in Montreal, Canada, Andree Leclerc studies and practices Vedic ways of life including Bhakti Vedanta and Jyotisha for the last 25 years. During the last 5years, she has been diving deeper into Vedic astrology along with the practice of Pranic healing. As an entrepreneur, she also co-founded a company wholesaling stone jewelry for which she has designed some 2000 models. Nadis as Applied to Jyotish Since India covers much ground as the 7th largest country on the planet, with 28 states, 7 unions and 22 official languages, the same knowledge may adopt varied names in different regions. Therefore, our of study id known as Nadi in the south and as Samhita in the northern area. Nadis are written on palm leaves and are known as OLE in Sri Lanka. Samhitas are hand written.
Nadis are classified in two parts: Jiva Nadi and Ajiva Nadi
*Jiva Nadis are known as the speaking Nadis which are generally used in Nadi readings.
*Ajiva Nadis are known as Abyhasa Nadis (practicing). These are divided into Mantra Nadi and Tantra Nadi.
It is said that there are 72 Nadis in existence: 36 representing Mantra Nadis and 36 Tantra Nadis in addition to some Prashna Nadis. It is also said that Mantra Nadis and Tantra Nadis each comprise over one lakh (100,000) harts.
