Although Swami Venkatesananda has been actively involved in socio-religious activities in Mauritius for many years I only had the good fortune of becoming personally acquainted with him in 1978. I was then Mayor of the Municipality of Beau Bassin/Rose Hill and swamiji came to me about the naming of a street where the Sivananda Ashram is located.
His humility and wisdom considerably impressed me. A few days books are not best-sellers, but their content is such that it can transform one’s existence if only one cares to read them.
I am grateful to the Chiltern Yoga Trust (Aust.) for having sent me a few of Swamiji’s major publications. However, posterity will be thankful to the Trust for its initiative in compiling the ‘Venkatesa Daily Reading: Volume II’ which will contain extracts from the published and unpublished works of swami Venkatesananda. I am therefore both honoured and delighted to write the foreword to this new book.
I am sure that those who will read this new collection of Swamiji’s writings will be impressed the way I was.
