Preface

Music Therapy is a subject which deals with improvement or sustaining of our psychological, emotional as well as physical conditions with the help of music using musical tools and specially designed musical procedures and interventions specific for a person or a group of persons.

NADA Centre for Music Therapy, Chennai, a non- governmental outfit manned by volunteers, established in 2004, has been continuously putting efforts to promote Music Therapy through publications of books, articles and research papers, besides running a distance learning program, having trained over 800 therapists so far. It has also worked out as a catalyst to establish an association for them, Indian Music Therapy Association at Bangalore in the year 2018.

This book, Indian Music Therapy, is the second in the series started in 2018 with Music Therapy Digest. It contains articles which, it is believed, will provide not just awareness, but also guidelines for conducting effective therapy sessions by those who are in the field of music and music therapy. It also attempts to lay down a workable roadmap for further scientific research in this nascent field.
