The role played by the Telugu Akademi in stabilizing Telugu Medium at the level of Higher Education since its inception (1968) is well known. The Akademi has rendered needful services to the student community at higher education level by publishing a number of Text books for Intermediate, Degree and PG Reference books, Translations, Popular series, Monographs, Dictionaries, Glossaries, Readings and Question Banks for EAMCET are being published over the years. Many of these books were reprinted a number of times as per the demand.

Telugu Akademi has been revising and updating its Publications in accordance with the prescribed syllabii as and when necessary by commissioning Professors and Senior teachers from various Universities and Colleges in Telangana are Editors and Authors.

The Telugu Akademi has been preparing and publishing text books in both Telugu and English Media for Intermediate and Degree level students.

Now, for the first time Telugu Akademi is entering into a new arena by taking up the task of preparing and publishing books for the benefit of students appearing for Civil Services Examinations conducted by UPSC and other State examinations for key subjects in response to the popular demand of the students.

Hope, this effort of Telugu Akademi for the benefit of student community would be well received by all.

In recent times anthropology has become the most sought-after optional in the civils services examination. In the recently declared results of civils- 2017, 8 rankers among the top 15 including the first ranker have chosen anthropology as their optional. The limited syllabus and ease of comprehensibility has made anthropology a good scoring optional.

The present book "Indian culture and society" has been designed to provide well researched and crisp material for the aspirants. This book covers the syllabus of Anthropology Paper 2- Part A. The list of topics ranges from various aspects of Indian culture and changes in Indian society. Each topic has been explained in detail through maps, figures, tables and mind maps so as to give a better understanding of each topic.

This book has been written in accordance with the pattern of questions in the recent years. Every topic has been covered so that an aspirant can obtain every information in a single book. The book can also be helpful to understand history from the prelims perspective and we hope that people can use it a reference guide for their history preparation.
