Ancient India (Bharat) has been historically too defaced beyond recognition for her children to know their lofty cultural heritage. This was the political mischief of the Western colonists, particularly the British, with their agenda to infuse ethnic inferiority complex in Indian psyche, so that European culture looks superior.
The book, as based on irrefutable documented evidences, has made a modest attempt to expose their dirty agenda and un-earthen related historical truths which have been misconceived, misrepresented and distorted. The book has historically established:
The original name of this country was "Aryavarta or Bharat," not India.
Hence, all the natives of Aryavarta / Bharat irrespective of their respective ethno-religious affinities are Aryans or Bharatvasi, similarly as all the natives of America are Americans.
Will observation in 'The Story of Civilization: Our Oriental Heritage' (1963, p. 391)- "Nothing should more deeply shame the modern student than the recency and inadequacy of his acquaintance with India" - awakened me to the inadequacy of my knowledge about my own 'Mother INDIA'. Such eye-opening was prompted by an American classmate at the Fordham University. New York, where I was studying for my Ph.D. He jubilantly said that he was happy to meet a person from the great India whose Vedas give so much rich philosophy how to get serenity and peace of mind. He knew and practiced meditation and Yoga. He told me so much about Hinduism and Vedanta, that I felt myself so ashamed and small, being a national of India, particularly a Hindu.
Michael Wood, in his book "The Story of India", suggested the title "India Reborn". On the cover-back, it is written:
"Home today to more than a fifth of the world's population, India gave birth to the oldest and most influential civilization on Earth, to four world religions, and to the world's largest democracy.... Now, as India bids to become a global economic giant, Michael sets out on an epic journey across this vibrant country to trace the roots of India's present in the incredible riches of her past."
The fact of the matter is that it is getting increasingly difficult to find real knowledge about India's history, how it developed, what it has really contributed to the world, what the Vedic culture actually gave to humanity and its struggle to maintain its culture, the trials. tribulations and atrocities it has endured. Much of this history and information is no longer taught in schools, and is hardly available in universities, unless through special studies that are offered by a few colleges. Even some academics and so-called scholars. especially with Western views, actually demean and work to show the Vedic knowledge and traditions in a negative and most demeaning light, rather than showing what it really has provided for the upliftment of the consciousness of humanity.
Rarely you find individuals, like Dr. Jagat Motwani, who are courageous enough to take on special research, investigation and studies that can lead to uncovering the truth of how great was the early civilization of India or Bharatvarsha. If people really knew this information, especially Indians, they would have far greater respect for their own culture, history, and roots to their ancient traditions. Of course, India has many cultures within it, not just one. I have often said that with one tourist visa, you have access to so many cultures. But when I say culture, I mean the connection with the Vedic tradition. which is the main and original root of all of India.
"At one time India had a place on top of the world; there was no limit to her spiritual daring in the fields of religion, philosophy and science and her forces spread far. annexing new domains. The preceptor's seat India had thus won is now lost; now she must stand as a disciple. The reason is that fear has entered into her soul, Panic made us forbid voyaging on the high seas - whether of water or of knowledge. We belonged to the universe but relegated to the parish."
I wish Tagore were back to feel happy to see India (Bharat') being reborn. Both 'India' and 'Bharat' have been interchageably used. India has started voyaging on the high seas of not only philosophy of life, but also of various fields of science and technology. India could not be killed, enemies wanted to. She has self-sustaining and surviving energy and unshakable conviction in rebirth. She was forced to lie down quiet and inactive. But, she was not. Life within her was active. The moment, her shackles were taken off, Bharat arose soaring towards the sky. Because of limitations, inflicted on by over a millennium-long cruel bondage, she will take some time -not long- to regain her lost global throne.
"India is a rising giant whose influence is being felt not only in the Indian Ocean, but in the Americas, in Africa, the Middle East, and in Central Asia."
