About the Book The highly infectious pandemic Covid-19, a contagious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), has caused colossal loss of life and economy across the world. This pandemic has affected many sections of the society and brings new aspects into practice. The virus has turned out to be deranged in terms of the economic activity and loss of human lives. The outbreak of covid-19 brought changes in social and economic life of humans. India, being no exception to this disease, has witnessed humanitarian crisis coupled with worsened inequalities in Indian economy.

Keeping in view the impact that has been caused by this biological disaster, Department of Geography has prepared a total of ten research papers on aftermath of Covid-19 on several elements of society. The Department has forethought to publish the research papers in form of an edited book entitled Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on Health and Livelihood.

This mentioned volume presents elucidated papers appraising the influence of novel corona virus on multiple sectors of the society. Also, the mentioned research work has been carried out in various states of India. A geographical analysis of various Himalayan states has been conducted to assess the aftermath of Corona Virus on varied aspects such as tourism and hospitality industry, socio-economy, education sector, entrepreneurship, health sector and psychological modification in human behavior. This document is believed to aid in a better understanding of how COVID 19 has impacted various elements of our society and its future implications.

This research work has been carried out with coordinated efforts of the research scholars of Geography department and the local respondents. There is an excellent endeavor of faculty of the respective department to bring out a coordinated effort towards the completion of this document.

About the Author Prof. M. S. Negi Birth: 24 March ,1963 Birth Place : Village -Kapaniya, Block Jakholi, Rudraprayag,Uttarakhand.

Prof. M.S. Negi is currently the Head of Department of Geography, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He has teaching and research experience of more than 30 years. He has broad area of interest which includes Geomorphology, Agriculture Geography, Population Geography, Himalayan Ecosystem, Tourism and Natural Hazards and Disaster Management. Prof. M.S. Negi has published more than 100 research papers in national and international peer reviewed journals. He has many books published to his credit. He has been invited to many seminars/webinars of National and International repute as a chairman, keynote speaker, Special Guest and Guest of Honour. He has organized (as a convener) more than 10 national seminars, many workshops and an international FDPs, most of which are activity based, witnessed with huge participation of students. He has visited Cape Town, South Africa for 35' International Geological Congress in 2016. Thirteen students have been awarded PhD under his guidance and six PhD students are pursuing their research work in view of his supervision. He has association with many national and international professional bodies as a lifetime member. Also, he is the subject expert in many higher education selection committees. Prof. M.S. Negi has also been assigned many portfolios in the administration of HNB Garhwal University.

This pandemic has caused colossal loss of life and economy across the world. India, being no exception to this disease, has witnessed humanitarian crisis coupled with worsened inequalities in Indian economy. The virus has turned out to be deranged in terms of the economic activity and loss of human lives. This highly infectious pandemic has affected many sections of the society and brings new aspects into practice. The outbreak of covid-19 brought changes in social and economic life of humans. This immense noticeable footprint of corona virus makes its study even more significant.

In the ungracious lengthy lockdown, it is our pleasure to convict this book in the fight against corona virus. This work has been brought out by Department of Geography, HNB Garhwal University (A Central University), Srinagar, Garhwal to analyze the impression of COVID 19 and possible solutions for some key sectors. This volume presents some elucidated papers considering the influence of novel corona virus on multiple sectors of the society. Thus document aimed to provide the concussion of the adverse affects of the COVID 19 on various cities/towns of India. A geographical analysis has been conducted to assess the aftermath of Corona Virus on varied aspects such as tourism, socio-economy, education sector, entrepreneurship, health sector and psychological modification in human behavior.
