You do not need much explanation as you know the name of this book : Humour in Ancient India. Humour is most important in our life. It removes mental tensions. It produces laughter in us and we reach to ourselves, the source of energy, produced through the sarcastic or satiric humour we recharge our lost energy and we feel fresh. By this we can reach to this level of pleasure. There are many levels of humour.

Some humorous talk creates anger and malice in the mind of mankind. There is a good example of Draupadi the wife of Pandavas in Mahabharata period. When Duryodhana went out to visit the marvelous palace of Panduvas, he was confused where was the floor and which was water. He understood as the floor was water. So he lifted his cloths up. Seeing this Draupadi laughed at him. After, he saw water but he was confused and understood as the floor. So he fell down in water. Draupadi laughed again at him and used sarcastic errows : the son of a blind person becomes blind and cant see things. This errow of sacastic speech pierced his heart and it became the cause to insult Draupadi in the courtyard of Kauravas and the great war of Mahabharata.

You will read here many humorous levels of laughter from the most ancient scripture of Rigveda Sanahita to 12.5mAyana, Mahabharata, Purdnas, epics and modern Sanskrit literature.
