Sometimes the best place to look for a remedy to your ailment is in your kitchen. Home remedies or natural cures derived from natural ingredients such as fruits, vegetables and herbs have been a part of our lives for generations- knowledge that has been passed down through the ages. Over time, however, much of this wisdom has unfortunately been lost. Now, this comprehensive guide brings together simple treatments - which involve no chemicals, from hair loss to acne, from pains to cuts and burns. In this compilation of home remedies to prevent and treat common ailments, Sonica Krishnan lists symptoms and how they can be cured. It also details how people can use these methods in their everyday lives to stay fit and healthy. Some of them may also prevent more serious diseases in the long run.

Introduction
While the use of allopathic drugs have incrased, an awareness of their harmful side effects has also risen. People have begun to question the safety and efficacy of mass-produced drugs, and are beginning to turn increasingly to Herbal Remedies. These are becoming easier to find both in India and aborad. They are safe to use and less expensive.
These factors have motivated me to write on the subject of Home Remedies that are harmless and have stood the test of time. They can be used as preventives, or to treat a disease.
The responses that I have received to my articles and the success of my first book, Herbal Healers, on this subject have been the testimony that gives me added confidence.
In this book I have listed 100 common diseases, with a brief description of their symptoms and the Ayurvedic viewpoint in each case. This is followed by a list of recommended remedies.
The reader will be encouraged to discover that many of the herbs and spices found in the kitchen have a medicinal value as well. This book aims to be a Guide to Herbs and how and when to use them. It aims to bring Health, Hope and Happiness within our grasp.
