Book Description

Preface

Dr. Sambidananda Das was an affectionate family disciple of Prabhupad Srila Bhakti Siddhanta saraswati Goswami Thakur, the illustrious founder of Sri Chaitanya Math and its branches Sree Gaudiya Maths. After his post-graduation he was sent by the founder along with a preaching party to London in the year 1934 where at the behest of the founder he made research on the comparative study of ‘Gaudiya Vaishnava Movement and its relation’. He submitted his thesis to the London University and got doctorate.

Somehow during his life time he could not publish his thesis in book form, now we could have the original manuscripts at our hands earlier. Anyhow after his demise his wife Smt. Mira Das handed over the Manuscript for publishing them as Math publication.

She also donated Rs. 15,000/- for this work for the 1st edition and now we bring out the 2nd edition.

Although this is a posthumous publication, it supplies very substantial material about the history & literature of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism and their relation to other Medieval Vaishnava Schools.
