Nepal is very rich in floral diversity and harbor about 7000 species of flowering plants belonging to more than 212 families and 1500 genera. These species are important for scientific, educational, medicinal, cultural, socio-economic and recreational values.

There are several publications about the Himalayan flowers of Nepal which covers different aspects of them; however a distinct photographic guide to flowering plants of Nepal is yet to be published. This publication mainly aims to provide a pictorial guide to Himalayan flowers of Nepal.

This book covers 65 families belonging to 204 genera with 355 species of selected flowering plants covering from tropical, subtropical, temperate, subalpine and alpine regions. The first part of this book provides general information of physiographic, bioclimatic conditions, and vegetation types of Nepal. Likewise, it also contains brief overview of flowering plants of Nepal. The second part covers phenology, ecology (habitat), general distribution of 355 species. It also provides the photographs of species which were snapped in the natural habitats. Habitat and occurrence have been mentioned based on the observation in the natural habitats. The appendix at the end includes family names and scientific names of the species.

We are hopeful that this book will cater the need of students, researchers, conservationist, nature related tourist guides, naturalist, nature trekkers and all those interested in Himalayan flowers.
