The path of enlightenment shown by the Supreme Buddha leads to an all-round development of the mind. We are fortunate that the Supreme Buddha has taught the precious Dhamma in several ways to implement in our daily lives. All the teachings that the Buddha has given are practical to gain benefit here and now. Here, we are presenting in this book in Pali all that is needed for a serious Buddhist practitioner to study and contemplate, particularly for Theravada Buddhist monks. As devotion is indispensable aspect of our spiritual practice, it needs enormous commitment and determination to develop it. The first part of the book contains Silas. Various Sila yacana undertaking of moral precepts along with Triple refuges are presented. A lay follower or a novice monk can know what kind of moral precepts they can take. So also it is helpful to Bhikkhus to give these silas accordingly to the situation and need. These different kinds of undertaking of moral precepts are for different levels of practice where one commits oneself more deeply. Second part of the book deals with Puja and Vandana where the Triple Gem Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha are worshiped in a systematic contemplative way, which in itself is a great meditation exercise. The qualities of the Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha are recollected and our devotion and gratitude are expressed to the TathAgata, whose boundless compassion and wisdom have made us to receive the Dhamma. Third part of the book contains Paritta Suttas. Our respected teacher Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita's introduction herewith gives the meaning and need of such paritta suttas. We also suggest the seekers to read Invisible Protection written by our teacher, where the significance and the working mechanism of Paritta suttas are described in detail.
