On 8th of April, 1983 a conference of writers was arranged by the writers of Nalgonda region. I was invited to addresss in the conference and enlighten about the archaeological potentiality of the Nalgonda region. The conference was attended by such luminaries as Sri Sri, Ravi Sastry (Rachakonda Viswanatha Sastry), Someswar, Gajjala Malla Reddy and others. I spoke about the historical and archaeological background of the Nalgonda region and completed my address stating that though at present Nalgonda is economically one of the poorest regions, it has been culturally one of the richest regions in South India. My concluding remarks had an immediate impact on the audience including Sri Sri, who was sitting in the first row of the audience. Sri B.N. Sastry, a well known author and other prominent speakers requested that the Department of Archaeology and Museums would establish an archaeological museum at the earliest in order to represent the cultural character of the region. I promised that I would do my best in that regard. Subsequently, I persuaded the Secretaries, Education and Finance and Planning of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, for sanctioning funds for the establishment of the Museum. The result is the present archaeological museum at Nalgonda. I am now a very happy person as my dream has materialised.
