Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, was born in the fifteenth century during a period of political and religious turmoil in India. Tension between Hindus and Muslims had escalated, leading to greater polarisation of the two religions. Guru Nanak preached that God is One, He is theTruth, and He is nirankari or formless. He advocated a casteless society, based on brotherhood and equality. Nanak travelled far and wide, showing mankind the path to salvation. Guru Nanak was a unique messiah, who advocated a gentle, peaceful path to God-realisation.This book gives us an insight into the fascinating life of a great Master.

Harish Dhillon completed his post-graduation and doctorate in English Literature from the Lucknow University, where he lectured for seven years. He was Principal at Yadavindra Public School, Mohali (Chandigarh). He is the author of several books on Sikhism and Punjab.
