Introduction:
I am happy to present before the readers an interesting and useful book entitled "Good Health Through Foods and Regimen." Many books are available on the treatment of diseases but the books with suitable knowledge on the utility of foods and regimen in diseases are not in the market. One can get the diseases prevented, with their early stages and cured in later stages of diseases by using suitable foods or diet and regimen.
Our daily family life starts with unhealthy foods-which include Fast foods, Ice Creams, Confectionery and Cold drinks. They are having short-term and long-term adverse effects. The short-term bad effects are many but mainly acidity, gastritis, constipation, gastroenteritis and ulcerative colitis. And long-term important common adverse effects are anxiety, neurosis, depressions, sterility and impotence Anaemia and insomnia. All most all the diseases are due to improper food and regimen.
The Ayurveda Medical Science recently, has become very popular in foreign countries viz. America, Japan, Germany, Russia. There are Ayurveda Centers for treatment and colleges or institutes to train Doctors in Ayurveda Medicine.
Ayurveda is an offshoot of Atharvaveda and it is a life Science, it deals with not only curing the diseases but also to prevent the diseases. There is a proverb "Prevention is Better than Cure". It holds good in Ayurveda. Universe is made up of Pancha Mahabutas viz. Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space (Prithivi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, and Akash). Man is a macrocosm of nature. He is microcosm of the macrocosm universe. Each and every organs and cells of the body are made up of pentad of substances. Our foods are also made up of five mahabutas. In each and every disease the foods and regimen are arranged to fill up this deficiency and or to reduce the same in excess viz. obesity and diabetes.
From the dawn of the day to the night, one has to follow some procedures as foods and regimen. This has been postulated in daily routine, seasonal routine, seasonal routine, night routine, Sadacharas, and Sadvrittas. Ayurveda recommends good foods-vegetarian and non-vegetarian, as fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates as rice, wheat, Proteins as dal and fats and ghee and non-vegetarian foods as meat of birds and animals of wet or dry places depending on the diseases.
Health is a most important factor for every person to earn his daily livelyhood and to earn money through different good ways. Lastly to attain Moksha or Salvation, which is the ultimate goal of life. In order to be healthy, he needs his digestive fire, triode of doshas viz. vata, pitta and kapha, seven dhatus from rasa to shukra, and malas viz urine, faces and sweat, and these things must be in a balanced state or in equilibrium. That state is health when man is physically, mentally, spiritually and socially healthy such a thing is called good health. Even the W.H.O. definition of health is more or same. The different types of vegetable and leafy vegetables-which contain traces of minerals as Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Vitamins as Vit. -A in Carrot, vitamin 'C' in Amalaki. The balance diet is hold good even in Ayurveda which is of five thousand years. The principles of Ayurveda are hold good even in this so called advanced Scientific and Civilised world, where people will eat and drink indiscriminately in odd hours, and go to sleep in odd time resulting in diseases. By following the suitable foods and regimen properly as detailed in this books not only they can prevent the diseases but also to cure the diseases once for all and live happily and healthy for at least one hundred years.
I hope the readers would receive this book on Ayurveda as they had received cordially my other twenty nine books on Ayurveda.
