His capacity to digest facts and present them in a lucid manner brought him in close contact with leading criminal lawyers such as Mr. K.K. Shah, Mr. Rajni Patel and Mr. A.S.R. Chari.

In the very first year of his practice he worked as a junior of Mr. K.K. Shah in committal proceedings of a case known as the Jupiter Trial. An elaborate note of the case prepared by him brought him in touch with Mr. Chari and he was selected to as- sist him for the sessions. It was a trial before a special jury. The case began in June 1955 and continued day-to-day for a year. This case was followed by its offshoot called Empire Trial, where Mr. Shah had a government brief. It had a voluminous record of 148 witnesses and more than 1000 exhibits.

Other such matters, where he was briefed were Dalmia's appeal in Punjab High Court, Fedco import licence case, Saurastra Gold Smuggling case and Confirmation case of Salve, having ten volumes of printed paper book.

In 1973 Mr. Shah switched to commercial and Rent Act litigation and had a peaceful decade of practice in civil courts.

He has been regularly writing articles on law and science in newspapers. In 1976 he had written a commentary on The Bom- bay Money Lenders Act.

In 1984, Mr. Shah left Bombay for Ahmedabad as the humid climate affected his health.

This composition is his method of presenting a case for protection of the downtrodden from the excesses of bureaucracy and mis-management of natural resources.
