Dr. Arun Mahadevrao Bangre, born at Nagpur on October 22, 1948 learnt Hindustani Vocal Music under reputed gurus Pt. Ramchandra Agnihotri and Pt.Bala Saheb Poochwale of Gwalior Gharana.He was awarded Master of Music in 1968, M.A. (Music) in 1979 and was awarded Ph.D. in 1985 by Indira Kala Sangeet Vishvavidyalaya, Khairagrh.
Dr. Bangre had established the “Ravindra Sangeet Mahavidyalaya of Gwalior in 1973 and worked as the Hon. Principal for 13 years. He was Dy. Director (Programme) in the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagur from 1994-2008. He is the approved Research Guide for Indira Kala Sangeet Vishvavidyalaya, Khairagarh and Nagpur University, Nagpur. He has 22 years’ experience as research guide in music. Twelve research scholars have already been awarded Ph.D. under his supervision. He has to his credit number of articles and compositions which appeared in various newspapers and magazines.
He is the author of “Gwalior Gharana” reference book published by M.P. Hindi Granth Academy, Bhopal in 1989, “Gwalior Ki Sngeet Parampara” reference book and a monograph on “Aftab-e-Sarod Ustad Hsfiz Ali Khan.” He has also translated ‘Swaramayi’ and ‘Swarali’ books written by Dr. Praba Atre in Marathi into which was published by M.P. Hindi Granth Academy, Bhopal in 1996.
He is the recipient of the honour of “Acharya” upadhi in 1998 from Jaimini Academy of Haryana for contribution in the field of Hindi literature. He is also awarded “senior fellowship” from Government of India in 2000 in the field of Hindustani Music. Dr. Bangre has been associated with various learned and universities.
At present, he is the Chief Advisor and Rasearch Guide of “Saraswati Lalit Kala Kendra and Shodh Pratisthan”, Nagpur.
