Today, during the changing International era, to understand the internal and external circumstances, of any country, it is important to have deep Knowledge regarding the international relations of that country. Therefore, in this context a deep analysis of the foreign policy of that country is required because the study of foreign Policy is the base of international relations as well as the basic determinant of national interests of nations. It is, not only related to the past and present of a country but it also raises so many questions regarding the future of that country. Hence, it is very important to understand the past, present and future of the foreign policy of a country to make an analysis with the international circumstances.

So far as, there is the context of India, it is important to analyse its foreign policy and national interest to understand it's relations with other countries since last seven decades. India have seen so many changes and rise- falls during these seven decades. India achieved independence on August 15, 1947 and after that India faced horrible situation of cold war between the two power blocks. Keeping in view, these circumstances and Indias economic needs, Jawaharlal Nehru adopted the policy of Non alignment. India tried to maintain friendly relations with all the countries, particularly with It's neighbours.

India have always supported the U.N. Policies and have always opposed all type of imperialism, colonialism and racialism. The policy of Non-alignment and the five principles of "Panch sheel" are the great contribution of India to the developing and developed nations of the world.
