About The Book

The book seeks to ensure food and nutrition security for 1.2 billion plus people in India on the strength of self sufficiency of its food production including foodgrains, fruits and vegetables, milk, poultry products, meat and fish etc. It suggests convincingly for removal of hunger and poverty from within the subcontinent by adopting modern science based technologies, rational and scientific utilization of natural resources and their conservation and preservation of ecosystem. It also refers to proper utilization of new opportunities in domestic and international trade and creating a favourable climate for increased investment by public and private sectors in agriculture and rural sectors from where majority of Indian households earn their livelihood. Alternate strategies for a sustainable food and nutrition security in the country have been suggested. An insightful introduction for the teachers, students and general reader alike.
