Book Description
About the Book

First published in 1995 to commemorate the birth centenary of J. Krishnamurti, Fire in the Mind consists of fifteen dialogues between Krishnamurti and Pupul Jayakar, a friend for many years and author of Krishnamurti: A Biography. Held between the years 1978 and 1984, these dialogues cover a vast range of concerns- fear, sorrow, time, death, and the ending of the self. They also explore subjects central to scientific research today, such as the questions of biological survival, the nature of consciousness, and ageing and renewal of the brain cells.

About the Author

J. Krishnamurti (1895 -1986) is regarded as one of the greatest philosophers and religious teachers of all time. For more than sixty years he travelled the world over, giving talks and holding dialogues, not as a guru but as a friend. His teachings are not based on book knowledge and theories, and therefore they communicate directly to anyone seeking answers to the present world crisis as well to the eternal problems of human existence.

Foreward

Fire in the Mind was put together by Pupul Jayakar in 1995 to commemorate the birth centenary of J. Krishnamurti. Published by Penguin Books India, it was received well in India and abroad.

This second edition, published by Krishnamurti Foundation Trust Ltd, England, omits two dialogues in-cluded in Part I of the first edition, as they have already been published elsewhere; the dialogues in Part II, which were really seminars in which a number of people other than Pupul Jayakar participated, have also been dropped in order to make this edition more focused and compact. A couple of dialogues that came to light in the later years have been included in this book, which has been reedited from transcripts made out of archival audio and video recordings of the Archives of the Krishnamurti Foundations.
