On one hand Shukra is Pravritti margi (worldly desires), and on the other he is a Guru and a Brahmin. When he is Sattvic, he leads to emancipation, but when he creates maya (illusion), the native gets entangled in material pursuits and gets trapped in the endless life and death cycle.
According to Indian scriptures, daityas used maya while fighting the wars. The daitya guru Shukracharya was a master in this art. In the physical world Shukracharya is equated with planet Venus. What is the maya of Venus-when a person becomes totally drawn to the worldly pleasures, he falls into maya and deviates from the path of Nivritti/ renunciation. That is why Venus is often addressed as Mayavi (illusionist). I have brought forward in this book a few dimensions of Venus.
I request my readers to help rectify any error in this book. Your suggestions will help me improve it for the future readers. Your recommendations and changes will reflect in the updated version of the book.
My disciples Pt. Ashok Dikshit, Shri Ram Sharma and Jyoti Sharma have helped me in writing the book and Manoj Sharma, Om Prakash Saini and Rakesh Singh have worked very hard for its graphics and design. My blessings are with them.
It gives me immense pleasure to write foreword for 'Fascinating Venus' by Pt. Satish Sharma, Senior Vice-President of Indian Council for Astrological Sciences. He is a renowned Vastu expert as well as a great savant of Astrology. The present book is the result of his experience for more than 3 decades in both the fields. In the context of Venus, I am reminded of the following shloka of Bhagwat Gita.
"All created beings were unmanifested in the beginning, they manifest themselves in the middle and become unmanifest again, when they die in the end. If this is so, then where is the need for lamentation?"
The above shloka describes the journey of a man. In astrological parlance, the first house is connected with the birth, whereas 8th house with death. We notice that from 'birth to death, the journey is overseen by Venus whereas, Jupiter covers the journey from 'death to birth. In simple language, the axis of Aries and Scorpio has on one side the semi circle having Taurus and Libra, the rashis of Venus, as the starting and endpoint respectively. The other side is covered from Sagittarius to Pisces, the rashis of Jupiter. Thus, we see that both the gurus, i.e., Deva guru and Daitya guru contribute in their own way toward making the life purposeful and help the soul in realizing its ultimate goal. Venus creates illusion or a veil of Maya through Bhogas. Pt. Satish Sharma wrote the original Hindi version of this book and very rightly named it as 'Mayavi Shukra.
The following properties of Venue exhibit its fascinating attributes:
1. Venus is the only planet which is lord of two maraka houses, i.e., 2nd and 7th in the Kaal Purusha chart.
